Good to Know:

  • The Amazon is the largest tropical rainforest in the world and is home to the largest river in the world too.
  • Essential packing items include a rain poncho, comfortable shoes, a hat, lightweight long shirts, cotton or linen pants, mosquito repellent and sunscreen.

  • Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper – the Amazon can get noisy at night!
  • The Shiripuno Lodge invests the revenues from its ecotourism programs in the preservation and development of the area.

  • The Huaorani are native Americans in Ecuador. They live deep in harmony with rainforest life.
  • The best time to visit the Amazon is between May to June, which are the midway months between the rainy season (February-April) and the hottest driest season (September-November).
